Never underestimate the middle sister. That’s the role Mary Wilson would come to play as one of the first and the last member of the legendary Supremes. As both a singer and a bandmate, Wilson learned to temper her magnificent voice in order to showcase the talents and fiery personalities of Diana Ross and Florence Ballard. The three came together as teenagers in Detroit and worked hard to gain the notice of Motown’s Berry Gordy. The group would go on to earn more than twenty #1 pop songs over a 15-year career and were inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. Although the group stopped recording in 1977, until her death in February of 2021, Mary Wilson reigned Supreme.
